I wanted to read more STEM romance books without problematic power structures. I also was tired of science being portrayed inaccurately, so I am excited to write what I know and dive into the research! I also love to focus on places I love: Italy, Maine, Massachusetts, New York State and California to name a few!

My characters are one part autobiographical and another part aspirational. I also love writing the villains, it’s cathartic to have comebacks ready for my characters that I would never have in real life until way after the fact!

In my novels I am exploring the world around early career scientists, their fictional universities, and the invasive creatures they are studying. Each of my main characters is studying something that readers can also study through participatory science. There are elements of reality along with lots of love.

Yes, my books are suitable for young adult readers and beyond. Everything happens behind closed doors. My mom, husband and my middle-grade daughter are all first readers of my manuscripts and enjoyed them. If I wouldn’t want them to read what I write, I don’t write it.
